An Evening of Art History with the British Association of Monaco at the Stelios Foundation Conference Hall

The British Association of Monaco hosted an evening of discussion on art history at the Stelios Foundation Conference Hall. On Monday, 17th November, author Cecilia Lyon gave a lecture on the French painter Adolphe Valette and his influence on the British artist L.S. Lowry.

Cecilia Lyon’s talk, based on her book Adolphe Valette & L. S. Lowry , explored how Valette introduced Impressionism to Manchester at the start of the 20th century and the impact he had as a teacher on Lowry’s artistic development. Attendees were able to gain a long-awaited insight into the relationship between the two artists and the ways in which mentorship can shape creative work.

The evening concluded with a cocktail reception hosted by the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation. Guests also had the opportunity to get special book signing and dedication by Cecilia Lyon. All proceeds from the books went to support the Association’s ongoing work in the community.

Thanks are due to Cecilia Lyon for her lecture, to the attendees for their participation, and to everyone who contributed to the British Association of Monaco’s charitable activities.
