Sharing Food from the Heart: The Stelios Foundation Visits the Restos du Cœur Food Bank in Nice

On Tuesday, 11 November 2025, the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation paid a heartfelt visit to one of the Restos du Cœur activity centers in Nice, reaffirming its commitment to fighting food insecurity across France.

Founded by the late Coluche, the Restos du Cœur has long been a beacon of hope for those facing hardship, providing food and fundamental assistance to thousands each year. In the Alpes-Maritimes Department alone, over 11,000 families rely on the Restos du Coeur’s support, including 1,600 families in this food bank in Nice. The past year has seen a 30% increase in demand, as new profiles of disadvantaged people seek help.

To respond to this growing need, the Stelios Foundation has offered Bonduelle ready-to-eat vegetable cans — nutritious, vitamin-rich meals that require no heating or refrigeration and that can be enjoyed immediately by individuals and families who may not have access to basic amenities.

As part of the Foundation’s initiative, 730,000 vegetable cans will be distributed, enough to sustain the program and feed thousands for a year. The Foundation has not only donated the cans but also supported their transport and direct distribution to the food banks.

During the visit, Restos du Cœur’s Alpes Maritimes Departmental Manager Francois Chantrait warmly thanked Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou for his solidarity, generosity, and ongoing encouragement for this project through the years. Francois added:

“These are not just cans — they are symbols of hope. They represent far more than food; they remind us that we share a common destiny, and no one should ever feel alone in our society.”

The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation is proud to stand alongside the Restos du Cœur in this mission — fighting hunger by sharing food from the heart.
